At this writing, PTC Studio has 756 videos posted on YouTube—with a total of 200 about PTC Creo alone. Let’s say the average video is 3-minutes long; do the math, and that’s 37 hours. It’s a product design and data management software binge-viewing bonanza!
But perhaps you don’t have time to watch them all right now.
We think an overview of the top 10 (or 11) is probably enough to give anyone a thorough introduction to PTC Creo. Check out these vids to find out why we introduced PTC Creo, the vision that drove it, and demos of our most popular features:
10. Introduction to PTC Creo Parametric. Posted in 2011, this video introduces parametric modeling and how it fits into the larger PTC Creo solution. It’s a must view for anyone still using PTC Wildfire 5, Wildfire 4, or earlier. All that said, this video covers just PTC Creo 1.0. It would be helpful to also view an Introduction to PTC Creo 2.0 (there’s that “or 11” I was talking about above).
9. PTC Creo 1.0 Basics. Produced and posted by user Damian Costillo, this demonstration is geared to former PTC Pro/ENGINEER users. Castillo shows how to find your way around the user interface with its new search and ribbon features.
8. AnyRole Apps in PTC Creo: Freestyle Conceptual Design. This 2010 video was the first look at what was introduced later as Creo Freestyle. The focus here is on industrial designers who are exploring ideas in the concept phase of product development. Skip down to the #1 most viewed PTC Creo videos for a newer demo of the popular software.
7. PTC Creo Illustrate. This video shows another role-based application in PTC Creo. This time, for technical illustrators. Tim Harrison, director product management, demonstrates how models created in PTC Creo can be used to create 2D cross sections, exploded views, and animated assembly instructions.
6. AnyMode Modeling in PTC Creo: 2D-3D Conversion. AnyMode Modeling, one of the building blocks of the PTC Creo vision, lets product designers jump from 2D drawing to parametric modeling to direct modeling and back again. In this video, see how 2D drawings serve as the foundation for new features on a parametric model—and how the designer can jump back into 2D at any time to refine the model.
5. Assembly Modeling with PTC Creo Parametric. With PTC Creo 1.0, we introduced capabilities that make it easier to drag, search, and track parts and assemblies. But probably one of the most powerful additions has been the way the system loads and works with large assemblies. This video explains.
4. Introducing PTC Creo Sketch. So many ideas start as a quick sketch on a scrap of paper. PTC Creo Sketch wants to be that scrap. That way, you can save all your ideas electronically. Then, you can use your sketch to create a detailed 3D design. This video shows how it works.
3. AnyMode Modeling in PTC Creo. In the 2D-3D Conversion video above, you saw how you can move from one mode to another. In this video, watch how a 3D parametric model, filled with design intent, can be modified in 3D direct modeling environment.
2. Manufacturers Plan to Unlock Potential. AnyMode Modeling, AnyData Adoption, AnyRole Apps, and AnyBOM Assembly–these concepts drove the development of PTC Creo in 2010 and they drive it still today. This video lays it all out.
1. Introducing Freestyle in PTC Creo Parametric. Manufacturers adopt PTC Creo for its Sheet Metal tools, direct modeling apps, and any number of sophisticated new capabilities. Many are delighted at how much they end up using Freestyle in PTC Creo Parametric. That’s probably why this is our most viewed video.
