Last month I got the chance to attend a day of Creo Parametric 2.0 hands-on workshops in Dallas, TX. The audience consisted primarily of long-time Pro/ENGINEER users who had yet to test drive Creo 2.0 for themselves. After a brief intro and overview of the Creo design suite, the users were unleashed on a tutorial that walked through different areas of interest.
I kid you not when I say there were actual “oohs” and “ahhs” as they saw how quick, slick and powerful the technology was. Above all attendees seemed to be most impressed with Creo Freestyle, Creo Flexible Modeling Extension- especially the power it would have to work with 3rd party imported data, new sheet metal capabilities, and the Command Search.

Creo 2.0 Hands-On Workshop in Dallas
At the end of this workshop and another in Houston that week, we asked the participants to answer a survey – find out what they thought. Here are some of the responses we received:
How would Creo improve your design process?
“Work on 3rd party imported data from other design software (like SolidWorks).” {Creo Flexible Modeling}
“Improving time spent modeling new and revising existing designs. Time savings equals money savings.”
“Save time in product development and rework.”
“Flexible Modeling could help us save time.”
“Creo saves time by shortening the amount of steps you have to do to create parts and assemblies.”
“Consolidating our CAD platforms will promote faster communication and reduce repeated geometry production.”
“Ease of use will save training and increase productivity.”
Have you faced recent challenges that Creo could have addressed?
“Working with companies that use Solidworks.”
“Assembly configuration capabilities.” {Creo Options Modeler}
“The sharing of data between different software platforms.”
“The transition from concept, to final design.”
“Importing 3rd party CAD models, and manipulate them.”
