Viva Las Vegas! Viva Creo! Viva PlanetPTC Live!

You’ve more than likely heard the song and perhaps even seen the 1964 American movie,  Viva Las Vegas! (That’s “long live Las Vegas” for you gringos.) It starred singer and actor Elvis Presley before his white cape and sequined jumpsuit period.

Elvis sang that Las Vegas could set your soul on fire, and that’s exactly the spirit we hope to capture this June at PlanetPTC Live when we introduce Creo 1.0.

A while back, I told you about this event and its concurrent release of Creo 1.0.  Now that we’re just weeks away from the event, let’s get an update from Mónica Simón [Ed- who incidentally is Spanish!]. She’s part of the team managing PlanetPTC Live at Las Vegas and all the planned Creo 1.0 activity.

GH: How’s the planning going for Creo 1.0 at the PlanetPTC Live event?

Simón: Well as was mentioned in the last article, this event isn’t just about releasing Creo 1.0. The event is the premier PTC in-person educational and networking event for product engineers, developers, managers, and educators who use PTC technology solutions. But for this article, we can focus on what’s happening for Creo 1.0. There’s a lot of great activity around Creo 1.0 at PlanetPTC Live.

GH: Great! What have we planned to kick off the release celebrations?

Simón:  Well for main session, Brian Shepherd, our EVP of product development, will spend time on Creo 1.0 as part of his keynote. Then, we’ll have all sorts of best practice and roadmap sessions on the Creo 1.0 release. As you can imagine, the event is packed with Creo 1.0 content.

GH: Can users try Creo 1.0 for themselves at PlanetPTC Live?

Simón:  Yes. The PTC University team has worked night and day to ensure users can try Creo 1.0. At the Hands-on Learning Labs users can try Creo 1.0 freely, for as long as they like.

PTC University has also organized a dedicated instructor-lead track for Creo 1.0 training. That offers more structured and focus on some key areas. Those sessions last 2 hours each. The goal is to make sure that as a user, you get everything you need to do your job better.

There’s been an overwhelming response to these Creo 1.0 sessions – so make sure to book soon!

GH: And what if attendees want to discuss Creo 1.0?

Simón:  The Creo team will be part of the Solutions Expo. We’ll have all the key members of the Creo product management team, including John Buchowski, Brian Thompson, Asa-Trainer, ready to take your questions. They can also show you Creo 1.0.

GH: Sounds like a great Creo 1.0 release event!

Simón:  Remember all the other PTC products, services, and partners that are also part of PlanetPTC Live, too. For example, we’ll spend a considerable amount of time on Windchill 10.0 and its highlights.

GH: I’ve also heard the world’s press will be at that event?

Simón:  Yes. A record number of press from both the US and around the world plan to attend PlanetPTC Live. They’re covering both the event and the Creo 1.0 release. Some will be live-tweeting or live-blogging the event, in case you can’t be everywhere at once. And we expect some great coverage in the following days, weeks, and months.

GH: How can people find out more about PlanetPTC Live in Las Vegas?

Simón:  We’ve a dedicated area on the web where everyone can find out a lot more about the four-day event, including location, schedules, agendas, registration, event pricing, etc. Visit our dedicated site.

GH: For the cost conscious—are there any special rates?

Simón: We’re offering special rates for groups (3 or more employees from the same organization) and for those employed by the government or higher education.

GH: And how’s registration to date?

Simón: With two major product releases this year, Windchill 10.0 and Creo 1.0, it looks like we’ll have a very strong turn out.

So this year, at PlanetPTC Live, we’re hope you’ll be saying ”Viva Las Vegas! Viva Creo! Viva PlanetPTC Live!“  [Ed – especially about Creo 1.0!]

I will be attending and look forward to the event.

I remember a few years ago at the annual solidworks convention every attendee was given a thumb drive that had a free copy of solidworks on it…..what a great idea….say…what if PTC gave every attendee of the conf. some of the new CREO product to take home and experiment with…even if it had some restrictions on it that would be OK, but it might spurn more rapid adoption and interest…

Thanks for your post and comments. I definitely think PlanetPTC Live in Las Vegas will be a fantastic event, leveraging the great work of PTC/User from previous years.

There’s definitely a buzz around Creo 1.0, and as mentioned in the article, sessions and places have been added to accomodate record numbers of people wanting to experience Creo first hand.

I don’t want to spoil the event, but there’s defintely some great news and activities that are part of the event – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Thanks again for taking the time to post.
      Best Regards,
      Geoff

Will PTC have a virtual event too for the release of creo along with the live event, like the unvailing event in October last year?

      Hi Tim,

Yes, we’ll have a web broadcast that ties into the physical event during the week of PlanetPTC Live. Be one of the first to see Creo 1.0 by joining the web broadcast on June 13, 10:30 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time). Reserve your place today!

This 45-minute virtual event features PTC’s Mike Campbell, division vice president of Creo product development, and John Buchowski, vice president of product management. The two will unveil and demonstrate live key apps that make up Creo 1.0.

      Best Regards,
      Geoff
